Utah Bankers Association Convention - Sun Valley Idaho
Well our last weekend in June actually ran a whole week. We attended the Utah Bankers Association Convention with Teri's job. It was lovely. The weather was perfect, about 8-10 degrees cooler than Salt Lake which, at that time of the month, was really heating up.

This is our second trip to Sun Valley, staying at the Sun Valley resort - very posh. They really know how to take care of you. We had to be at the some convention committees meetings on Sat night (Teri was volunteering in the activities committee) but we actually came up a few days early. We drove up on Teri's birthday ... a fact lost on Shawn for two + days - by the way.

So going up a few days early allowed us to relax and enjoy the town before all of the convention activities began. We went out for breakfast to a small diner we found last time we were there and then walked around the town, working off breakfast! There are a lot of tourists coming to Sun Valley so there are a lot of people who were willing to take some pics for us.
After walking most of the morning, we found a little shack off main street with ice cream. While it was cooler than SLC, it was still pretty hot and we couldn't resist, especially when we found out they had Cotton Candy ice cream. You can see it was a big hit with Cole.
The Utah Bankers have been coming to Sun Valley for at least 40 years. This is their 100th birthday and so they really did it up big. They really wanted to do it up big and knowing most of the bankers bring along their families and extended families, they decided to have a 'birthday party'. And what's a birthday party without blow up bouncing houses?!? Part of my responsibility on the activities committee was to help with the birthday celebration so of course I recruited Shawn to help with the Giant Slide - he was great. He was just as excited to watch and holler with the kids and adults as they came bouncing down the slide. As usual, you could hear his laugh around the park.
Cole was really great during the day. He just hung out with us under the umbrella watching the kids go down the slide.

The only problem was it was a little hot and muggy. So I took my water bottle and drizzle a little water over his outfit which was really beginning to cool him off. To further cool him down, we laid him on the ground - his first exposure to grass. As you can see from his feet in the air, he wasn't so sure about the whole thing. But by the end he was really kicking and rolling around.

The last night Sun Valley held a Ice Skating show with fireworks. They were a little intoxicating!

One of the best parts of the trip was introducing Cole to the swimming pool - he LOVED it. We went down a little later in the day to limit the sun and ended up having the pool almost completely to ourselves. We ended up meeting Rod who lives in Sun Valley, but takes advantage of the amenities at the resort. He was a really nice guy with a lot of interesting history - even being in various television and movies ... according to him, there is a limited amount of asian folks in Sun Valley so it works out well when the film crews come to town. He was nice enough to take & pose these pictures for us. He also advised us about the bluegrass festival in town late that week that was great fun - although really, really full of people. I think everyone in Sun Valley was in this small city park. We didn't stay long (and apparently didn't bring our camera) but I was glad we went.

We apparently got distracted and didn't take as many pictures as we could / should of - but we've included a mix of what we did take below in the slide show. We had a great time and as Shawn said, while it's nice to have someone come and make your bed, clean up after you, and wait on you nearly hand and foot - it's really nice to be home (and try and catch up on blog posts).
