Really, this is our first time making one of these & it shows!

We decided to try and make a gingerbread house for the holidays (yes, we still have more holiday posts -- we were very busy this year). Luckily, someone got smart and knew we should start small and built and affixed the major pieces together leaving just the decorating to us. We hope this person got a nice fat bonus -- genius!

All of the frosting is premixed in separate decorator bags. And all of the candy is individually separated in separate compartments -- someone as anal as me must have come up with that one & I'm so grateful. We got set up, put some oversized t-shirts on everyone laid out some sheets and towels since we decided to decorate in the family room vs the kitchen since it would be easier for the kids to participate.

Jace checking out mechanics of all of this

Brooklyn jumping right in

Brooklyn patiently (almost) waiting her turn.

ok, one side nearly done.... no, it's supposed to look like that, really!

Cole eating dinner under the Christmas tree and admiring the lights

Two sides ... see they both look that way

Some of the candies were harder to push on to the house than others

Helping Dad apply the frosting

Now preferring to watch dad

Apparently very pleased with herself or her dad's handy work

Brooklyn taking a turn at applying some trim

And all four sides done and investigating how we'll put the tree together

Jace being extra careful - wouldn't want to mess up this masterpiece

Apparently the this was the only way Brooklyn could take a picture -- smile & close our eyes

Really, we have a whole bunch of these!

The smiles got bigger, but the eyes stayed close

Even this one with mom.

It's like the house got decorated without her knowledge

TA DA!!

Cole relaxing & checking out all of the commotion.

And the finished product (well the trees are off camera -- but we finished them) and still with her eyes closed!

Definitely a hit for the whole family. Hopefully we don't lose all of our gingerbread making skills in the next year.
