Getting Busy in The Backyard

see what a help as they take the apples out of the buckets and hand them back to Shawn

It's that time of year again - when all of the apples, pears, and grapes are ready to harvest. With our two new additions we don't have the time (or energy) to bottle the pears or make grape juice but luckily we have plenty of friends and neighbors who can help us out and help themselves to the abundant fruit.

We decided to pick the grapes and pears and let everyone come over and take what they could carry and we picked the apples for making applesauce, something we're going though in HUGE amounts these days.

busted feeding the dog grapes ..... again!

And rather than fight it we decided to let the kids help out Shawn in the yard (Teri and Cole were at one of Cole's schoolmate's birthday party). The kids seemed to have a good time. It was mostly nice to be outside since it's been rainy all week. But within a relatively short time they found the grapes and decided feeding Piper (the dog we're babysitting) was much more interesting -- who can blame them -- Piper was thrilled.
