More Treats than Tricks

We had a busy Halloween weekend.

It started with a "trunk or treat" at the local ward house (sorry no pictures) but it was a good trial run for the costumes and the whole trick or treating concept.

Then we got busy spinning cotton candy. Grandma Jacquie and Grandpa Keith stopped by to help watch the kids so we could spin some up on Sat. And Autumn came by on sun to help watch and play with the kids. We knew with our new little ones we probably couldn't spin up all of the cotton candy, spend time with the kids, and get everything else done so we elected to break it up over the course of two days. But the result paid off - by the end we had spun up 340 bags of cotton candy. We decided to spin up extra because it was scheduled to be such a warm night. Thank goodness!!

On Mon morning we all went up to Cole's school where they were holding a Halloween Carnival. Everyone was in costume and having a great time.

Cole was a farmer in his john Deere tractor, and what farmer doesn't have a cow (or steer) by his side with a lovely flower in the field. The Tractor was a HUGE hit!

Brooklyn's reaction to playing a carnival game!

Jace on the other hand was totally on board

It's hard when your petals are unmanageable!

and then she's ready for it to be off

after all, how else can she hold her balloon dog

finally a game they will both play

score!

meanwhile, one of Cole's aid stops by to get him in on the fun

The cake walk was less threatening

especially once they figured out why they call it a cake walk

Cole's class all collected together

And here's simon, our trekkie

Here's Cole's teacher - she is the best

the absolute BEST!! (she even won an award last year)

We found pirates cove ... more goodies

Monday afternoon we carved up the pumpkins. At first the pumpkin guts were met with some disdain but eventually they were right in with it.

Warming up to the idea

Now we've got just about everyone in the act .... including Ellie, who apparently likes the taste of pumpkin guts

After dinner we all got ready for some trick or treating.

Shawn went out with the kids while Teri stayed home to hand out cotton candy.

We decided to take the kids out early and just make the rounds on our little street so everyone could be home early without getting too warn out.

Happy Halloween everyone!!
